Company protection from investors

Background:
We have an RCx company Energy Cost Reducers; we are coming up on our 2nd year and will have our GSA contract applied for by end of this year. We specialize in a specific type of RCx and one of our projects is on one of the largest building structures in our city. They have called us back after about a year of tracking how well our project went and want us to do more. We under promised our goals and over delivered our results by close to twice the amount of savings that they expected.
Opportunity Ahead:
We have a revised review of our business plan coming up to take to the “rain makers" of our city, I have a close friend who is an expert in company financial analysis and after just a quick analysis valued our company at about $1mil. Our needs for cash are mainly to handle the growth that will come now that our specialized RCx procedures are being endorsed by huge past performance success both in the commercial market and federal market. About $200,000 cash injection to handle our 2010-2011 $7million opportunity forecast (this number is conservative).
Danger Area:
I am fearful of "Angel Investors" and other strangers that are smarter than I am and can take advantage of my lack of knowledge in the investment world.
My Want:
Our values are God-Country-Corps and I am hoping to find like minded veterans who are in positions as Investors as opposed to other groups. Can you help find private veteran investors?

For an opportunity like yours, being comfortable with your partners is of course key, veterans or not. The first thing you need to understand about equity is that it's all negotiable. You decide who, how much, when, etc. Developing a realistic offer is key.

Informal help is avaialble offline but you should have a reasonable understanding of securiites laws in the states you plan to offer your deal.

Fear is understandable but just remember to educate yourself before negotiations start. Start wiht the "blue sky" laws. Maybe there's a friendly Veteran securities lawyer i your city who might talk to you off the clock for a minute or two.

I'm a like minded Veteran who can offer ideas but usually capital raising is contractual. So you can sell your own capabilties and opportunity or "explore" the Angels and whoi knows you might find one.
