Opportunity
Posted by waylandB on April 21, 2011A SDVOSB. I have attended all the seminars, workshops, classes, mixers, etc. with about all the Agencys, and Organizations funded to assist my Catigory. I have documents showing contacts with Agency S. Business Reps too numerous to list. Local SBA has tried to facilitate my opportunity without success. I own a small Consulting Engineering Company in Colorado. It is clear that the Government has provided all the engineering work to the multinational corporations. They are required to attempt to retain companies in my catigory, but they do not. I dont want to go into detail relating to my experience, but each time I go to a conference in Colorado, I meet others in my same catigory, experiencing similar results. I really dont want to complain...but...in this enconomy, everyone needs to benefit from their tax dollar...not just the large corporations....and it appears the goverment is still hanging on to words like "may" instead of "shall". Now, this may go with people who the government feels that they can gloss over....but...Professional Engineers kinda take notice and draw their own conclusions. After all, we are licensed by States to be responsibe for life safety. I have no money or time to continue to go to these conferences which have not been productive. I can certainly understand what Government is up against with, every one wanting a piece of the action. They are trying to do the politically correct things. I will save you the obvious differenced between SD and other social catigories. My question is: How can I make a difference? It is unclear to me...and i cant seem to get a response...if SBA has oversight on Agency results. So does SBA have oversight on Agency results? Is it possible to not only have quantiy of money obligated to SDVOSB reported to a watchdog agency, but quality..meaning how many Businesses were actually employed? Why is VA the only Agency that has SDVOSB set asides? And, last but not least, why hasnt our company even been asked for a proposal to do subcontracting for at least a year of contacts with most everyone? Oh and one last thing...when the SB personel say they call companies from the Fed Biz to see if they are willing to propose work...why do I question that...but...still they dont?
At this point I have no more resources to try to obtain work thru this program. The economy has take my business down to attempting to get Govenrment work thru this program.
I skimmed President Obama's committee...just saw more figureheads. Perhaps because people like us who write to these web pages are marginalized.
