Is there a market for home surveillance systems?

I decided to install my own camera system which can be viewed within my home. I received a great review from my neighbor an decided to take the idea and run with it. Do you think it would be a good small business start up?
Starting a business comes down to your own interests and passions. Once you have considered starting a business there are a number of steps you should take before proceeding. Complete your due dilegence by researching how many similiar companies are in your geographical area. Develop a business plan with a clear budget. Reach out to other professionals in the industry to see what there experience has been and find out what the market is like now. Determine what vendors you will use and what products you will need. You may need to set up a re-seller agreement to use there products. Understand what your expenses will be and be able to determine what your pricing model will be and what your revenue potential will be as well. Once you do the research, create a clear business plan you will know better whether to proceed. There are some big players in that industry so you will be competing against price and installation resources. Good luck.
