Does anyone keep statistics on the Veteran populations by state. I'm interested in Pennsylvania data.
Althought the data below is somewhat dated, it is the most current I found.
Pennsylvania
Veteran Facts and Figures
Civilian Population over 18 Total 9,169,767
Veterans 1,088,379 12%
Data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2005 American Community Survey, the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2002 Survey of Business Owners and the United States Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy indicate that:
o There are over 23 million Veterans in the United States.
o There are nearly 26 million small businesses in the United States.2
o Approximately 14% of small businesses were Veteran owned and nearly 7% of Veteran owned Businesses were owned by a Service-Disabled Veteran.3
There are an estimated 137,772 Veteran owned small businesses and an estimated 9,641 Service-Disabled Veteran owned small businesses in the state of Pennsylvania.
In the state of Pennsylvania, Veteran owned small business proprietors’ income is estimated at over 5 billion dollars.
The Veterans Corporation, created by P.L. 106-50, is the only organization dedicated to the advancement of Veteran owned businesses. The success rate of Veteran business startups is high in comparison to other business startups, partially due to the experience the Veterans have gained in the Armed Services.
