We ship nationally only. We use Fedex and UPS. Both are excellent and equal in customer service. If you'll be shipping any kind of volume at all, then hen you are setting up an account, CALL and speak with a customer service rep and ASK for volume discounts. They don't offer the discount voluntarily, but they'll gladly discuss if you ask about it. You just have to be shipping more than a couple of items a year!
I use FedEx because USAA offers a very nice discount for its members who use it. I have never once had to file a claim on anything and everything is delivered on time and in excellent condition.
Their local facilities (Kinkos) also do a superb (and I'm not exaggerating) job of packing fragile items for shipping. I have shipped some very fragile items across country that I had them pack for me and they arrived in excellent condition with no problems whatsoever. The packing is also discounted on my plan and it is quite reasonable considering some of the items I've shipped.
I have not had to ship anything internationally, so I cannot make a specific recommendation there. However, I would use my FedEx account if I needed to and wouldn't be concerned.
I highly recommend them.
I still think USPS is the cheapest and easiest carrier, Maybe I am old fashioned.
