My personal favorite book is a text I use in my Entrepreneurship courses is "Successful Business Planning for Entrepreneurship" by Moorman & Halloran (pub - Thompson South Western). It is a great source for someone considering starting a business. The outcome should enable one to determine if entrepreneurship is a viable option. Completion and patience should lead to a business plan reflecting your business prospects.
One of the first things I thought about when I started my business was, "How do I take advantage of as many tax deductions as possible, and in a way I can understand?" I am happy to say the answer is in an exccllent book by Sandy Botkin, CPA. The book, "Lower Your Taxes Big Time," is updated for each year's tax code. When you jump in and buy one, you'll find a layman's explanation for nearly every tax deduction strategy available. Sole proprietors, S Corps and LLCs included. Business makes America go, and Congress knows it. That's why business gets the tax deductions. I get excited about this book, and I recommend it routinely to anyone thinking about business. I even had to school my CPA with some pretty essential information right from the book. A satisfied user of eight years!
